The Vineyards

The vineyards of Casa Ermelinda Freitas are located in Fernando Pó, privileged area of the Palmela region. Dedicated to wine production for four generations, Casa Ermelinda Freitas possesses 240 hectares (593 acres) of vinyard of which 160 hectares (395 acres) are of the castelão variety, known in the area as Periquita. In the remaining terrain, 40 hectares (100 acres) are planted with red varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Syrah, Aragonês, Alicante Bouschet and Petit Verdot. Lastly, 10 hectares (25 acres) hold white grape types such as Fernão Pires, Chardonnay, Arinto, Verdelho and Moscatel de Setúbal.
